"CHATEAU LA CORNELLE"
D.O. FRONSAC
PRODUCER: VIGNOBLES A. ROUX

Bordeaux is the largest source of quality wines in the world.

Its flat countryside is attractive, if not spectacular. However, without the lush vineyards and the illustrious names of the great chateaus, there would be little to thrill the traveller.

Sandwiched between the regions of Cognac and Armagnac, Bordeaux is the largest departement in France and the wine it produces generates more revenue than any other region.

Fronsac has been the coming area of Bordeaux for a number of years now. Its wines are good but not widely available outside the region.

Fronsac wines are well made benefitting from earlier bottling than other parts of Bordeaux and thus great fruit in the mature wine. The area is hilly and wooded, and lies to the west of Pomerol.

The preponderance of Cabernet Franc gives the wines an appealing grassy edge to their smooth fruit, an own distinctive character.

Chateau La Cornelle comes from a 10 ha argilo-calcaire-soil property owned by Vignobles A. Roux. This wine is made using grapes from 30 years old vines: 60% Merlot - 30% Boucher (the local name for Cabernet Franc) - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a deeply coloured wine and have a bouquet of violets, raspberries and cassis. The flavours are lush and rich with a mixture of raspberry, blackberry and mineral notes.
